Several years ago my grandparents told me they were worried about the kind of men I, an unsupervised woman in a large city, might meet. They wanted to present me with some general guidelines of men to avoid. (Actually, they've probably been telling me for years I just finally started listening at that time.) So, courtesy of Ruth and Elmer, here's a list (in order of importance) of types of men to avoid:

• "pot-heads"
• drug addicts (a different category to them)
• men that physically or emotionally abuse you
• men without ambition
• gamblers
• womanizers
