<title>Valentines, Finished</title>
<link>http://www.moryma.com/dailies/20100208.html</link>
<description>
(3 photos in the post - click the title link) // Voila! With the valentines about-to-be-mailed it seems safe enough time for a reveal! // [(Image) The backs of the valentines, withthe spiky version of my handwriting scrawled.] // [(Image) And the fronts! As you can see they're schoolyard valetines with construction paper fringer. Went with Star Wars, Hot Wheels, and The Princess and the Frog, picked up at the dollar store.] // [(Image) All sealed up and ready to go! // Plan on actually mailing these in the next day ot so. Depending on a) The mailman coming to pick them up (have no idea what Arlington County has going on re: service), b) Where you live (folks in California, of course it'll take longer) and c) Whether or not I'm sending you one (if it seems you would have and didn't feel free to email) they should be arriving soon. Exciting! Or at least as exciting as anything is in this mad mad weather.

<title>Walking in a Winter Wonderland</title>
<link>http://www.moryma.com/dailies/20100207.html</link>
<description>
(2 photos in the post - click the title link) // Okay, the snow has been a drag in a lot of ways. I've had to cancel and re-make a weekend's worth of plans, missed seeing folks who live farther away than a walk, etc etc etc. But one thing that I've absolutely totally thoroughly loved? Walking through the snow drifts. // Its not fun if its far, but for a short distance, wading through hip-high snow is a blast. And totally worth the wet jeans when you get home. Last night after being out with Laura et al I trekked home from Clarendon through the park. // Had some melting today, but they're talking another storm this week so no doubt there's more tromping around in the future.

<title>Snowed in with Hug</title>
<link>http://www.moryma.com/dailies/20100206.html</link>
<description>
(6 photos in the post - click the title link) // Last weekend when we had the 4 - 6 inch snowstorm Hug hinted around staying with me for the storm but ended up not doing it (she lives at an above-ground metro and didn't want to be trapped at home). This time when weathermen were talking 12 - 24 inches she flat out asked if she could and I told her no prob. She only wanted to stay until Saturday afternoon which made it completely doable. // It was a lot of fun. With the two of us it was the sweet sister time that makes my friends gag when I talk about it. We gossiped about reality shows, had junk food, talked old family stories, and watched tons of tv (The Hurt Locker on demand, plus whatever we could find one). She even suffered through a good portion of the first season of Lost. I really enjoy catching up with what's going on in her life and hearing her perspective on things. It also helps that we find a lot of the same things hil-ar-i-ous. // In between all the other things we did (face masks! family phone calls! true confessions!) we would head over to the window and exclaim over the snow.

<title>Valentines, In Process</title>
<link>http://www.moryma.com/dailies/20100130.html</link>
<description>
(3 photos in the post - click the title link) // Have had the component parts for a few days but have still been unsure exactly how I want to put them together to make this years' valentines. After a set of false starts think I know but will take a few prototypes to be sure.

<title>Couch Tales</title>
<link>http://www.moryma.com/dailies/20100125.html</link>
<description>
(4 photos in the post - click the title link) // So, since I've moved into the new place I've had a blank wall. // [(image) That blank wall, right by the front door. Oh, and the Christmas Tree that really must come down already.] // I mean I still have the couch I've had for several years, but there was space and I've been wanting some additional seating. Not that friends couldn't continue sitting on the floor when they come over, but really an additional place to sit is a lot more civilized. // Meant to get something before Three Kings Day (also meant to put up a description of the party and some photos - must loop back and do it) but didn't and ended up lining up dining room chairs there. Looked at a variety of couches, dithered and dithered some more, then finally took the plunge and ordered a couch I saw online. One I had to put together. // Let me repeat that. One I had to put together. I may be crafty as all get out but I don't have much practice at furniture building. Or at least good furniture building. But heady on I-can-do-it-ness (and after already asking Francois to help) I was sure I'd be okay, the couch would be okay, all would be right in the world. // When the boxes finally came in today I was a little less sure. // [(image) The box's gaping tear. Eeeeeeeeek.] // The boxes were massive and banged up. Opening them up and extracting all of the pieces, I started to feel less certain. But I threw my hair up in a ponytail, put on some music and got to work. // The result? Voila! // [(image) The new green couch] // Gorgeous. Stable. Comfortable. What's not to love? And it even plays well with the older couch. // [(image) The two couches, snuggled together] // So I'm really happy with the new couch. Am pondering what artwork to put up with it and what the heck to do with the extra end table but that'll work itself out. Definitely a more fun set of problems and possibilities than most.
